87th Anniversary Celebration 17th Dec 2016, 7:30 pm
云顶麻甲游 2016年4月23日 晚上7点
麻甲余氏宗祠送来了邀请函，邀请新加坡余氏总会派代表参加23/4/2016在麻甲武吉巴西育人学校礼堂举行的晚宴，该晚宴是为庆祝麻甲余氏宗祠庆祝82周年的祠庆以及佛诞而设。
余氏总会一共有24位宗亲报名参加赴宴。大家商量讨论的结果，决定在22/4早上出发，驱车直往云顶住一个晚上，隔日再下来麻甲出席宴会。
22号早上，展明宗亲租了两辆小旅巴，让大家在总会和兀兰上车，彩燕和永福是领队。大家怀着兴奋的心情，登上旅巴，出发了！
通过了关卡，来到皇后坊的一间咖啡店，大家下车喝喝咖啡，吃吃早点，活动一下筋骨，顺便拍拍照。
到云顶的路程，需要6、7个钟头，大伙儿都在车上打盹，养养精神。经过森美兰州属，见到了一座美食城堡。那就是有名的芙蓉烧包城。1987年郑绍基先生以一辆小型旧货车经营烧包生意，开始他一生的烧包生涯。1990年，发展至吉隆坡，从此芙蓉烧包成了芙蓉代表性的土产，远近驰名。
云顶高原途中，有两排店屋，司机让我们下车用餐。在咖啡店里吃过午餐之后，车子就一路往云顶的途中奔驰而去。蜿蜿蜒蜒，陡陡峭峭的，终于来到了云顶高原，时间已经是下午三点多了。
领了房间的房卡，大家都急不及待的想回房间，放下行李，好好冲过凉，再到
赌场搏杀一番。所谓小赌怡情，来到云顶，就是为了放松心情，享受个中乐
趣。这是大家的说法。我却不以为然，明知道十赌九输，何必把钱送给赌场。所以我只在赌场转了一圈，见识见识之后，就出来了。希望宗亲们各有所获，各得其乐。
隔天中午12点，大家在云顶拍了团体照之后，两辆旅巴就往山下开去，来到昨天吃午餐的地方，下了车，饱餐一顿之后，继续上路。在车里颠簸了好几个钟头，终于来到了目的地，位于店屋楼上，有三个房间，一个大厅的民宿。麻甲余氏宗祠的理事双庚宗亲热心的招待我们，尽管我们说不饿，还是准备了炒米粉和炸鸡翅膀给我们享用。大家梳洗之后，男士结上领带，女士穿着得体的，准备出席麻甲余氏宗祠的82周年祠庆宴会。
傍晚7点，大伙儿来到了育人学校的礼堂。宴会正式开始。舞台上也拉开了序幕，打头阵的是育人学校的小学生表演的《二十四节令鼓》，接着，舞蹈学会也呈献了《左摇右摆》和《魅力四射》的健康舞。大会主席金城族长致欢迎词、大会嘉宾峇吉里区国会议员德华宗长致词、名誉顾问拿督余国隆族长简介麻甲宗祠的置业发展。宴会结束后，大家一起拍团体照留念，余氏宗亲的友好情谊，定格在照片中，为此次的麻甲之行，画下了圆满的句点。

家庭野外聚餐日 三月二十日, 上午11点
Lin Yu was in Singapore participating in the 20th International Food & Hotel Asia 2016 Exhibition. He took time off from his busy schedule to visit us at our Association.
Our President, Whai Lin and other committee members warmly welcomed Lin Yu to our Association. His visit was further graced by a couple, Mr & Mrs Yu Shuanggeng (余双庚), from Muar Yee Clan, Malaysia. They were here to greet him. We shared valueable views and experiences with each other.
Lin Yu is an enterprising young man. He represented his compnay, Zhongshan Carsbai Electric Technology Co Ltd. He was promoting his whole range of fruit blenders.
We wished him a successful and fruitful event at the Food & Hotel Asia Exhibition.

三月二十日由余氏总会青年团主办的家庭日在东海岸公园举行烧烤野餐聚会。
这地点挺好，驾车停放也方便。在这一天宗亲们一家大小都陆陆续续抵达。
见了面后，宗亲们就很用心的帮忙準備食物烧烤，有好多食物，有魚有肉有海鲜，有些宗亲帮忙切肉，切菜和水果。有些宗亲帮忙準備饮料，大家分工合作，很快就把工作做好，好让大家更快享受美味佳肴。
这样的家庭日，能促使宗亲们有非常好的凝聚力，小朋友们在一起玩飞机，骑脚车，有些更爬上树拍照好不开心。宗亲们难得有机会聚在一起吃喝，聊个天南地北，放松心情，其乐融融。虽然间中下了点毛毛雨，但也抵挡不 了大家的聊天心情。
余氏总会家庭日在下午六点圆满结束，当然少不了拍一张大合照，今天的出席人数多达73位。
感谢余氏总会青年团团员们举办“余氏总会家庭日”。更加感谢章兴、章启、章庆、章成、与家人全力投入工作，准备丰盛的食物和足够的桌椅方便大家舒适的享用美食。再来要感谢的是大家热情的参与，让青年团团员们信心加倍为下一次的聚会作准备。

2016 年新春团拜与聚餐 13th Feb 2016, 6:00 pm
在大家享用美食的当儿，我们的男女斗歌也开始了。节目安排了唱歌，能够带动情绪，也可以增进宗亲们的感情，尤其是合唱新年歌曲，情绪变得很高昂，给大家留下一个美好的回忆。当然，新春团拜也少不了分发红包，小朋友们都乐开怀。宗亲们吃得开心，唱得开心，整个总会都充满了新年的欢乐气氛。今年的迎春联欢会，办得非常成功，团队精神最重要，也感谢出席的宗亲们，给予我们的支持和鼓励。

很快又是新年，余氏总会2016年迎春团拜联欢晚会，在正月初六晚上盛大举行。
晚会的主题是《灵猴迎春斗歌乐》，由婦女组负责筹备这次的晚会。我们分男女两组斗歌为乐，人数定为男子组6位，女子组6位，让在场的每一位会员和来宾一展歌喉，大家都可报名参加。然后男女轮流上阵斗歌，由在场的观众当评审，选出哪一组唱得最好。最后全场合唱新年歌，把气氛推向高潮，圆满结束了新春团拜晚会。
下午一点左右，自助餐工作人员先上总会把㘯地布置好，他们以红色为主题，带出了新年的气氛。食物大概五点半才会送来，于是，我们也趁这个时候快快拍照，这么美丽的场景，怎能错过呢？宗亲们在六点之前就陆陆续续抵达总会，我们在互相祝贺声中，感染到新春的喜悦气氛。晩会六点开始，先由我们的海年会长开㘯祝贺宗亲们新年快乐，万事如意！接着大家一起捞鱼生，希望大家在猴年都捞得风生水起，合家安康，心想事成，万事顺利！

The new 70th Management Committee was sworn-in on the 31st Jan 2016. Our Legal Advisor, 启贤, witnessed the signing and handing-over of portfolios to the respective in-coming Committee members.

World Yee Web Committee - Video Conference #1 30th Jan 2016, 11:30 am (Singapore time)

The Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations invited several Clan leaders to a working lunch-meeting at its premise in Toa Payoh. Strategises to entice more youths into our circles and organising more cultural exhibitions were discussed.

Betty & Jim Yee were on-board a cruise ship to Indonesia. (Please see Jim's Facebook for his travel accounts). We made contacts with each other through his Facebook and to meet them at Bayfront MRT (or Subway) Station. Their cruise ship berthed at the Singapore Marina Bay Cruise Centre on the morning of 18th Jan.
Yee Whai Lin and I met Betty and Jim on the 18th morning Bayfront MRT Station as arranged. We decided to let the couple try our local coffee. Marina Bay Sands Mall has many posh restaurants and Toast Box is cosy. Later, we adjourned to another shop for “Bak Kut Teh” or Chinese herbal pork ribs soup. At our Association’s premise, we showed Jim our facility and archives. Betty and Jim were very friendly, caring and knowledgeable. We enjoyed sharing many views about clan associations.
Jim had an appointment at 2:30pm, so we walked Betty and Jim to nearby Chinatown MRT Station meeting point and had to say “Good byes and bon voyage” to them. We were very happy and fortunate to be able to meet them in Singapore. We hope to meet them again one day!

Mid-Autumn Festival 10th Sept 2016, 6 pm
月圆花好庆中秋
2016年9月10日的傍晚，近百名的宗亲齐聚在余氏总会的会所庆中秋。品茗、尝月饼、享用自助餐。欢声笑语传千里，宗亲情谊乐融融。
这场中秋之夜，在筹委会主席彩燕的领导下，由妇女组和青年团联合筹办。节目老少咸宜，游戏有筷子夹弹珠比赛、剥柚子皮比赛、猜测柚子重量等等。
小朋友在大人带领下，提着灯笼，在大街附近绕了一圈。灯笼里透出来的点点亮光，为寂静的街道增添了几许的温馨。
喜欢唱歌的宗亲，更是大展歌喉，把有关“月”的歌曲，如“月亮代表我的心”、“月儿像柠檬”、“明月千里寄相思”、“古月照今尘”、“十五的月亮”等歌曲都唱的不亦乐乎。
节目尾声，海年会长抽出了30份幸运奖品给得奖的宗亲们。在“月圆花好”的合唱中，结束了这一晚的中秋之夜。就像歌词里写的：浮云散，明月照人来……祝宗亲们，月圆人团圆，团圆美满在今宵。

The Mid-Autumn Festival was held on the 10th Sept 2016 in our Association’s premise. Under the meticulous leadership of Cai Yan, the Women’s Group and Youth Group jointly organised this sucessful function.
A huge turn-out of just under a hundred members arrived and packed our premise. We had plenty of games, food, singing and good time. One member rocked the house with his répertoire of performances.

麻坡榴槤团一日游
又是榴槤飘香的季节！大家的味蕾都被榴槤的香味给唤醒了。麻甲余氏宗祠的宗亲也盛意拳拳的邀请我们过去品尝榴槤，并促进宗亲之间的情谊。
于是，大伙商量的结果，决定在8月21日组办麻坡榴莲团一日游。宗亲们都踊跃的报名，一共38人成行。在展明宗亲和永福宗亲悉心的安排下，8月21日早晨，38位宗亲，分坐三辆小型旅游巴士，浩浩荡荡的出发了。
一路上，老天不作美，竟然下起了倾盆大雨。大家都担心，若雨下不停的话，难免会影响到大家的游兴，哪里都去不成了！
幸好余氏祖宗保佑，过了关卡，吃了早餐之后，一个多小时的车程，抵达麻甲余氏宗祠时，雨也渐渐小了。大伙儿在平光宗亲的带领下，向麻甲余氏宗祠致上敬礼。之后，麻甲余氏宗祠的宗亲请大家吃了一顿丰盛的午餐，还游了麻坡河，见识了全马最大的壁画《姐妹情深》。
这幅《姐妹情深》的壁画位于麻坡峇吉里交通圈，毗邻五马路惠安会馆的四层楼店屋侧旁，高约43尺、宽约51尺，是由俄罗斯美女画家茱莉亚（Julia Volchkova）所绘制的。茱莉亚也因此成为民众心目中的明星画家。宗亲们都拿起手机、相机，纷纷在壁画前拍照留念。
下午时分，我们回到了麻甲余氏宗祠的会所。会长已经准备了红毛丹、山竹、还有一箩筐的榴槤等着让我们品尝。大伙儿一见到榴槤，眼睛为之一亮，仪态形象都抛一边，先下手为强的吃个痛快。麻甲余氏宗祠的会长和宗亲们盛情的招待，让大家铭感于心。
吃了榴槤，唇齿留香之余，大家还意犹未尽，到榴槤摊位买了猫山王等好品种的榴槤，打包回家给家人品尝。
晚餐时间，大家已经吃榴槤饱了，没胃口再吃大餐，就随便吃点小吃就回家了。一路上，车子通畅无阻，过了关卡，回到家，已经是晚上10点多了。
8月21日的麻坡榴槤团一日游，就在大家乘兴而去，尽兴而归的愉悦心情下，圆满的结束了。

38 Singapore members left for Muar in 3 mini-coaches on the early morning of Sunday 21st. All of us were in high spirits and eager for this day trip especially when durian was in the menu. Thanks to Chen Meng and Yongfu who organised this wonderful tour.
We arrived at Dewan Keturunan Yee, Muar and were greeted by Chairman Yee Kim Sai, Yu Shuanggeng (余双庚) and their compatriots. A Muar River Cruise was arranged and we saw its captivating river sights. We admired a recently commissioned giant wall art by Russian Artist Julia Volchkova. Finally, we had a wonderful durian feast. All of us had a good time. Thanks to the fine hospitality of the Malacca-Muar Yees.

The Yee Fung Toy Society of Canada 17th National Convention, 2016 - My Experience.
We were extremely excited to represent Singapore in this Canada National Convention in Calgary. Happy, because we had never been to the western coast of Canada and would like to visit it. A wonderful opportunity for me to eyeball with so many fellow Yees. Except for a few whom we had met before in New York City and Macau. Others, I had read about them in their respective websites or newsletters and had longed to meet them. My mission was to bring Singapore closer to the west and to further our relationship with the World Yee organisation.
Although our 19 hours journey was tiring with one transit stop at Tokyo, our flight to Calgary was smooth and timely. The B787 Dreamliner was a beauty. Worthy of mentioning, was the tips of its composite wings were seen to flex upwards (as much as 16ft) as the aircraft cruise faster. We breezed through YYC Airport. Immigration officer asked our purpose of visit? We said we were here to attend the Yee family convention. She said "Wow, you have a large family! Have a good time." How friendly!
We were greeted by some Yee members at the Arrival Hall. Hotel check-in experience was seamless and fast. Yee Fung Toy registration desk was in 3rd. floor. A professional photographer was on hand to take some portrait photos of all participants. Welcome dinner was planned at the nearby Regency Seafood Restaurant.
We were very glad to meet up with the Mah cousins and visited their association's premise. Some speeches were even presented in Toisanese - awesome! The next few days there were meetings. We begin to network and getting to know all delegates present. Email addresses were exchanged for future contacts and visits. Scheduled were some interesting day tours to Drumheller and Banff. Lake Louise was tranquil.
After this convention ended, we visited Vancouver. We were honoured to have Jim Yee and Betty to guide us in Vancouver. We had to thank Jim and Betty for their time. We visited the Yee Fung Toy Society of Vancouver, a walking tour of historical Chinatown, World's thinnest building, Granville Island Public Market and scenic Stanley Park.
Finally, a big thank you to all, my pleasure meeting you in Canada. Hats off to the team who undertook the daunting task organising this Convention. For me to represent Singapore, thanks to Yee Clan Association.
Hope to meet you again in the near future.

We were the last leg of the circuit. The Yee Clan organising sub-committee constructed a low stage. Purchased a new 19" monitor screen and stand and worked very hard to get our premise ready for this event.
The evening started with a scrumptious buffet with beer and red wine free
flowing. Our President Yee Whai Lin then made a welcoming speech and declared the Karaoke Session opened.
Jessica and Soi Muay were the MCs of the evening. They were so good that all karaoke singers felt very comfortable and sang their best. Everyone had a wonderful evening and even asked for an extended time.

龟咯(Kukup)度假村两天一夜游 2016年6月18日 早上7点
余氏总会青年团主办
趁着学校假期，余氏总会青年团决定主办短期的出国旅游活动，带大家出去散散心，放松心情，调剂生活。青年团正副团长章兴和章启，经过一番研究后， 选定了柔佛的西海岸南端的龟咯度假村 ，那里可以体验渔村风情，看看海上人家的生活风貌。
6月18日早晨，巴士在总会出发，过了关卡，直奔振林山，吃了早餐之后，经过北干那那、大笨珍、小笨珍，很快就抵达目的地。
下了巴士，大家步行到东海度假屋，32位团员，分别住进4个房间。建在水上的浮脚度假屋，设有卡拉OK冷气大厅，让大家大展歌喉，屋外是宽敞的餐厅和看台，可以用餐，眺望海景。我们被新奇别致的环境深深吸引了，拿起手机拍个不停。
为了体验一下坐船游“筀笼”的滋味，大家挤上了摩托大船，绕了一圈，看看海上养鱼的筀笼，闻一闻海水的咸味。还以为要去很远的海岛吃午餐，后来下了船，才发现原来是刚才下车的地方，还是在龟咯的中心地带。
在海皇餐馆用过午餐之后，自由活动，让大家到处去购物和闲逛。我们沿着小路进入村里，看看水上人家的生活。周末的游客很多，度假屋里不时发出欢笑声和歌声。过了一道桥，听到闽南大戏的铜锣声，原来是当地的恺泽宫纪府王爷春秋的大日子，《西江月》闽剧戏班正在演戏，和新加坡不同的是，观众很多，充满节日的气氛。村里也有一所《启蒙学校》，由于大门深锁，我们只能在外面拍照。
整个下午就在闲逛、闲谈中渡过，而后大家聚在一起唱歌。傍晚，在度假屋的餐厅享用晚餐，席开4桌，海上度假屋，菜肴离不开鱼虾、苏东等海鲜，还有沙爹，O打，吃得不亦乐乎。
夜晚的度假屋格外热闹，爆竹声响个不停，我猜想多数是新加坡游客燃放的，新加坡禁止燃放爆竹，大家就来这里发泄一下。这里还有一个精彩的节目就是放天灯，十块钱马币，就可以放一个天灯上天空，让它一直往上飘，不知飘到何处去。
6月19日中午，大家收拾行李，离开了度假屋，很多人都说会再来，还向老板拿联络的卡片，听说老板也姓余，大家的距离马上拉近了。
巴士开到小笨珍，停在海边的顺风酒楼，吃一顿丰富的午餐。过后，巴士来到一间糕饼店，大家买得好开心，有潮州腊饼、云片糕、豆沙饼、碰饼。。。。。
一路上，车子开得很顺畅，很快就过了关卡，在下午四点多钟就抵达余氏总会，结束了两天一夜的旅游。

Weekend Getaway - 2 Days 1 Night Kukup Trip
Taking advantage of the school holidays, Singapore Yee Clan Association's youth group decided to go out to relax, unwind, as variety is the spice of life. Youth Committee leaders Zhang Xing （章興）and Zhang Qi（章啟）, after some research, selected the southern tip of Johor's West Coast Kukup Fishing resort as the weekend getaway location, where you can get to savor the fresh seafood, stay in one of the holiday chalets and experience the relaxing seaside atmosphere.
On the 18th June, 7 am, 32 members of the Association assembled at Bukit Pasoh Road. All of us were excited to visit this exotic semi-floating fishing village. In the old days, these rickety wooden houses were build on stilts above the sea. Today, it is turned into a popular resort and good seafood outlets. Fish farms dotted the sea fronting this village. Fish farmers supplied their seafood produce to the local restaurants - meaning fresh seafood.
Night fall, some of us recced the village and found a local school, a temple, a Hokkien Street Opera. The others stayed behind in the rest-house to karaoke or fired up a few mini hot air ballons and fire-works.
Next morning, we checked out and had lunch at Pontian town before heading home.

Class #1 - How to Take Better Pictures with your camera-phone 22nd May 2016, 2 pm
This class was the first in our new series of knowledge sharing among members. It had been noted that there was an increasing number of members taking pictures with their camera-handphones. Some pictures were of reasonable quality but others were not. The facilitator also noticed the common mistakes in the submitted photos.
This prompted me to share some of the basic photographic knowledge and skills with our members. Eventually, we hoped to see more contributions of better quality if not professional pictures to our website. Topics for this class was posted elsewhere and need not be repeated here.
An encouraging attendance of twenty-six members was registered. Yee Meng Kwong graciously did a running translation, of my presentation, into Chinese. During the course of this powerpoint presentation, live demonstrations with a camera-phone were "chromecasted" to a large screen tv. The class ended with a Q & A session.

在筹委会紧锣密鼓的筹划之下，余氏总会87周年纪念联欢宴会于十二月十七日(17/12/2016)，在港湾的万兴酒楼举行。邀请的主宾，是总会的顾问，也是蔡厝港集选区国会议员家兴宗先生。
当晚席开50多桌，宗亲们和各社团代表的踊跃出席，让场面增添了欢乐热闹的气氛。在筹委会主席诚风宗亲的领导下，董事们分工合作，各司其职，办起事来井然有序，事半功倍。
筹委会主席诚风宗亲，年轻有为，办事能力强，致谢词更是简单扼要，切中重点，赢得大家热烈的掌声。会长海年、第一副会长进添、以及主宾的演说，也都各自精彩。
今年颁发的奖学金共有21份。小学组11份、中学组4份、理工学院组4份、大学组2份。代表奖学金得主上台致词的是小学组的余俊逸，年仅9岁的俊逸，双语流利，态度从容，毫不怯场，不愧为余氏子孙。余氏总会传承有人，远景看好。
另外，值得一提的是，往年会庆宴会的娱兴节目，多是公开给宗亲们上台演唱，或请专业的表演歌手来献唱助兴。今年特别的是，表演节目是由余氏总会的歌唱班包办。有独唱、男生小组、女生小组、男女对唱、男女大合唱等…..
余氏总会的歌唱班成立大约有一年，由黄良清老师教导。此次的歌唱表演算是初试啼声，交出来的成绩中规中矩，算是及格。感谢黄良清老师两个月来对学生的训练付出了心力。下次的表现应该会更好。
余氏总会87周年纪念联欢宴会就在大家齐心协力下，划下了完美的句点。期待明年88周年纪念宴会的到来，积累了经验，一年将会比一年筹办的更好！

After months of hard work put in by the Organising Committee, chaired by capable Lawrence Er, our 87th Anniversary Celebration was finally a reality. This year's celebration was held at Ban Heng Restaurant Harbourfront.
Our Guest-of-Honour was Mr Yee Chia Hsing (our advisor, MP for Choa Chu Kang GRC). Our legal advisor Mr Leon Yee was also present. Our homegrown singers belted out their singing sets, conducted by Singing Instructor Mr Vong. Lucky draws, Scholarships were given away. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed ourselves.
